OK, So 2025 Got Off to a Rocky Start...

Let’s not sugarcoat it — 2025 came in hot, tripped over its shoelaces, and spilled coffee on my reading tracker. Between life, work, and the general chaos that is existing, I technically kept reading... I just forgot to update anyone about it.

So here it is — my midyear check-in slash confession: these are the books I’ve tackled (so far) in 2025. It’s a short list, but it packs a punch — mystery, romance, historical drama, and just enough emotional turmoil to remind me why I love losing myself in fiction.

🍴 The Midnight Feast – Lucy Foley

Lucy Foley is back with another dark, glamorous whodunnit, this time set at an exclusive wellness retreat that’s definitely not as zen as it claims to be. Think fancy dinner party meets sinister secrets. Everyone has a motive, and no one’s gluten-free.

💔 How to End a Love Story – Yulin Kuang

This one hit like a perfectly scripted romantic comedy... with a side of heartbreak. It’s about grief, reconnection, and (bonus!) writing romance while trying not to cry on your laptop. Somehow both devastating and adorable.

🤫 Society of Lies – Lauren Ling Brown

Elite school. Dead student. So many secrets. If you like your thrillers with academic backdrops and morally gray characters, this is your next obsession. (Also: I now trust no one in ivy blazers.)

🍏 Apples Never Fall – Liane Moriarty

Families are weird. That’s the thesis here. It’s twisty, slow-burn, and full of tennis metaphors. Liane Moriarty once again proves she can write everyday drama like it’s Olympic-level suspense.

🇫🇷 The Forgotten Bookshop in Paris – Daisy Wood

Time travel? No. Emotional travel? Absolutely. This historical novel blends World War II Paris with modern-day mystery and bookshop vibes. Prepare to swoon and probably cry a little (again).

💍 The Wedding People – Alison Espach

A novel that starts at a wedding and unpacks everything but happily-ever-after. Smart, funny, emotionally sharp — it’s perfect if you love books about relationships that are just a little messier than expected. Bonus: excellent beach read, even if the characters are kind of emotionally sunburned.

That’s All (For Now)

Is this the most books I’ve ever read by June? Nope. But considering the year started with no coffee machine and a two-week cold, I’m counting it as a win. Stay tuned — the second half of 2025 is already stacking up with drama, plot twists, and probably at least one haunted house story.

Have you read any of these? Loved one? Threw one across the room? Tell me everything.
